Cultivating a reading habit

This post provides an overview on the CViE initiative Cultivating a reading habit that is being launched at the forthcoming CViE National Event in September 2018. The initiative involves providing children and young people (aged 5 years-18 years), attending the event with a ‘voucher’, subject to parental consent that can be exchanged for book(s) up to the value of £8 at either the Ossett Bookshop or the Gospel Standard Trust bookstall.
A reflection is also provided on the importance of reading and the dangers of bad books.

In this update, we have included information on House of Commons briefings relating to faith schools, safeguarding, and sexual harassment; new DfE guidance on keeping children safe; and an article on children’s ability to tell the time.

Being a Governor in a Year R (Reception) to Year 6 village school

This posting, if the Lord will, is the first in a series called “Being a…” The idea behind the series is for those involved with education in whatever capacity to share with others their experiences in order to be a help and encouragement.

We are grateful to a school governor for this posting that shares their experience of serving a village school.
